The Sailors Story

The sea hits the edge of the ship
and beats against the sailors
the weather is cold , and the frost is biting
but the sailors battle on.

Through many rough seas they sail
and through the stormy weather
yet nothing can discourage now
these sailors from their duty

For they know that when they at last do harbour
their loves they now can see
they know it's a battle that's worth while to win
to see their families again.

When cloudy skies cover the horizon
they picture their own thoughts
of some smiling happy people there
at the end of their journey.

But sadly though, more often than not
all the hopes in the world dismay
and each and every sailor here
will never reach the end.

For 'life's not fair', why should it be?
it's full of pain and hurt
the sailors, though they try so hard
perish half way there.

A sorry story, but unfortunately true
that tells the pain of life
and though we try to battle on
often there's just no point.
