Alone in the wood -- by Sam

I walk alone through a darkened wood,
The trees and their shadows hiding the mud.
The path disappears, but I wander on,
Deeper in the forest till all else is gone.

There's no-one to save me, no-one to care,
Yet no-one to hurt me, they're all unaware.
And so I remain there till all thoughts disappear,
I can sit and can think, while I'm here.

But then I get lonely and want to go home,
So I get up and begin to roam.
But I can't find an exit, there is no way out,
Now I am stuck here forever no doubt.

So all in a state I run and I run
And there it is, i can see the sun.
It's shining bright through a gap in the wood.
I've found my way home through all this mud.

And never again do I wander alone
Through the forest over there in a place unknown.
And if I ever get the urge to return over there,
I think of this experience, and I do not dare.
