Circles Within
She sits forlorn
with her heart on her sleeve
grey eyes dulled and weary
head slumped as if a torrent falls
yet only her cheeks show wet
From distant hazy view a pretty girl
and from time past also
yet up close she has the look of death
to a world that turns it back
and shrugs off blame
Her mind meanders darkened lanes
twisted and confused
a direction that she must not travel
and an exit unrevealed
she struggles on in ever decreasing circles
And when her tortured thoughts turn
the final terminus corner
and she has no where else to hide
no directions left to seek
no turning back
Then she will find an exit
of light or dark
both shades of grey
she must choose and take a step
abyss or hope
