The beautiful game

Oh don't you love the thrill of it all,
as gladiators fight for every ball.
And the roar of the crowd can raise them each,
to the pitch the pulpit from which they preach.
Is atmosphere the key to the view,
as watch entranced from a West Terrace Pew.
The joy and the pain cycle in and out,
reflected in every supportive shout.
Yet knowledge of fans so biased so rare,
ignorance rather the average they share.
Why do I go both in rain and shine?

It's a game both beautiful and sublime!
