latest news:
08th November 2001
Hello again. I've only added one thing in this update and that's a new puzzle, so you should all wander over there and give it a go, then you can e-mail me when you get stuck! Ha. Latest news is that Pete has arrived back in Coventry ... yeah ... and he's already got himself a job, starting at 6am tomorrow. Of course when he gets up late and wanders in at 12 they'll sack him, but that will mean he will have been employed for 4 hours, which is still longer than he spent in the chocolate factory job he had on Monday. Gonna post this now and do some work. Later ..
22nd October 2001
It would appear that I'm getting slacker with each and every
update. Hmmm. It's a phase thing I guess, and no doubt the phase will turn and
I'll get back to more regular site maintenance. Anyways, I've had two holidays
between entries on here ... the first was an awesome week that me and Ammy spent
in Crete! It was so damned romantic. The weather was perfect, the sea was beautiful,
the food deliscious and the wine voluminous. We hired a little scooter and pottered
around the island most days, even risking the mountain roads when we went to
the South coast one day (I still have the bruises now from where Ammy held on!).
Most every evening we sat on the balcony supping Cretan wine and chatted as
lovers do while we watched the sun disappear behind the mountains. The other
holiday was more of a weeks piss-up in Sheffield than a vacation (and I probably
spent as much as I did in Crete <including getting there>) .. that too
was pretty damned good. Saw a lot of Matty over the week (We like Saturday nights
at the Leadmill) and his new Girlfriend, the sexy Grace. Spent some time with
Nick and Phil, gave out a lot of pool lessons (Matty, remember the day that
you were the only person not to win a game? <Ammy actually won every game
she
played that day, probably 20 games in all>).
We rang Pete one evening and he has taken up the challenge
of providing an elephant (or another wild animal) to decorate Mattys house in
Sheffield. He'll have to be quick, because the place is filling up rapidly with
Road Signs and other Sheffield public information hardware.
Although rumour has it that Pete may be on his way back to Coventry in the near
future so Matty may have to settle for a Godiva statue.
Now we're getting back into routine ... commuting from Sheffield to Coventry
and vice-versa ... but then somethings are worth any amount of effort!
If you get a minute or two just check out this puzzle and if you suss it let
me know how ... cheers, oh and read a new poem of mine.
Anyway, I've waffled enough for now so let's see if I can actually get this
up onto the internet.
22nd August 2001
So colour me slack if ya will. I just ain't been in the mood
lately, soz ... and nobody has sent me much of late, other than the jokes (and
I've sent all the best of them out to all those subscribed). Following on from
the previous news: Got a phone call from Matty, Lucy ain't a rabbit, but she
is cute- Lee was impressed apparently (so Matty sez). Ant managed to beat me
on the help-pages with his clever network54 message saying they were gonna withdraw
the free service and start charging! But it's been quiet on the help section
since then. It was my birthday back on the 11th ... went to Rainbows with some
friends and had an excellent night. Got some great pressies too, including a
new drinking game (well it wasn't designed as such, but we figure it'll work
great) from Phil and Lala. Ammy re-outfitted my club-gear and even advised me
as to which shirt I should wear on which night, she's such a dominatrix! We
did the national space centre at Leicester and I can heartily recommend it to
you all, the highlight of the trip was the space mission to Halleys Comet, me
and Am were the navigators and Dean was brilliant as the commander, he got to
say: "mission control ... we have a problem" - lots. How cool is that!!!
Work has been busy ... But Tuesday we booked a holiday to Crete ... yeah ...
we're off in a couple of weeks ... if you're really good I'll slap a couple
of piccies on the site when we get back .... and now to what's new on the site:
We have a new peterfiles (top of the page - Issue7), spookily enough from Peter,
some poems from an American/African going by the suspicious name of Knock who
started writing to me out of the blue and a new poem from Sam. We also have
some new pictures in the wierd section. And now i betta go and put it all on
the site before Anthony rings me up crying about his dead computer again.
08th July 2001
Well, that was kinda traumatic! I decided to lose the Jokes
section, cos nobody ever seems to go there, but it's taken me hours now to sort
the site out again ... I kept the humour section, and then put all the most
intriguing and amusing jokey stuff in there. I also took out the cartoons at
the same time. Then I thought ... oops, all those links that used to go to the
joke index now need changing. So I let dreamweaver go off and search for broken
links and lo ... there were shed-loads. So I sorted all them out and then checked
for orphaned files ... 186!! So I moved 'em all to a folder outside of the site,
I may wanna use them again in the future. During this exercise I found 3 poems
from Sam that you couldn't actually get to!! And one of mine too ... 'death
by mediocrity' (from my depressed period). Problem is now that I have made so
many changes I'm gonna have to delete the whole site from the server and then
upload it all again ... sheesh! While I was playing I also added some more weird
pictures including a couple of blatantly sexist ones (sorry ladies) and a poem
that I finished earlier 'Amnesiac Perseus'.
On the personal front, just had a pleasant weekend with Ammy ... we celebrated
her uni results with bubbly, a meal out, and Friday and Saturday nights out
to a club. We also met up with Phil and Laura yesterday and trounced them at
Badminton before joining them for a swim (complete with Wave machine) and then
trouncing them at pool ... tee hee.
And I just heard from Matty that he has a new girlfriend ... so that's kinda
good. Her name is Lucy, which coincidentally is also the name of Deans new rabbit,
apparently neither was named after the other ... but there are similarities
?? ... I'm not gonna speculate. For those interested Pete K also has a new girlfriend
named Anita. And I've spoken to both of them and they seem quite nice.
And last news on girlfriends also ties in with the previous news item ... We
did indeed meet up with Matty and Lee for the birthday do, and a young lady
named Rebecca was there, purely as a friend. We walked from the first pub to
the second and before we had gone 20 yards Lee was all over her like a rash!!
Anyway, I like Becky, so that's kinda good too. Thursday was only marred by
the spectacular gymnastics display from Andrew Ryan, who decided to dive in
the air and land on his nose ... unfortunately his nose exploded on impact with
the floor at the coliseum ... there was blood everywhere, and when I tried to
clean him up it got all over my nice new clothes. He also managed to lose his
wallet during the walk/taxi home ... this children should be a warning to us
all on the dangers of overindulging in the demon drink!!
And now I'm gonna shoot off and attempt the upload ... luck!
25th June 2001
Oops ... did everybody notice that I put the wrong date on
the last news item ... well obviously I've changed it now! Anyway, before you
go off looking, the only change to the site is a couple of poems from me ...
so if that don't ring ya bell then don't go there (if you're on my mailing lists
you should already have seen one of them.
New off the site is a major keep-fit campaign ... well not major, but nevertheless
a start. Me and Ammy played squash and swam last week, badminton and swam this
week and on Wednesday it's badminton again. (We're about even at the badminton,
but I edge her on the squash!) Obviously we also spend large amounts of our
time in various pubs and clubs also. We went down to Daventry's premier nightclub
on Saturday 'Embrios' and it wasn't too bad (although without doubt we were
the best dancers in there) we even stayed for a couple of hours ... played some
pool (took the weekend tally to 5-5). Before that we met up with Lala and Phil,
en-route from Cov to Northampton ... they stayed for a couple of beers and it
was nice (although we forgot that we owed Lala a birthday pressie ... soz).
Next major social event is a 'do' on Thursday night ... hopefully meeting Matty
and Lee and a few others ... (anyone fancy it gimme a bell .. we're planning
on finishing at the coliseum<I already told Nick ... must ring Ian and Lala
and everybody else>)
And that's about it for now ... stay tuned!)
04th June 2001
I've been a tad slack on the site updates just lately, and
to be perfectly honest I wouldn't have made any changes now if it wasn't for
Sammy. She sent me a new poem and asked me to place it on the site ... (it's
called 'I have let you go') ... so then I thought 'I can't just do that', I
better put some other stuff on too. Luckily a Janine had sent me a new poem
'eternal justice' a few days ago ... problem was that this is her 5th on the
site and as such she gets her own list ... a bit more work involved but hey.
I also put a couple of pics on so take a trip to the weird pictures section
and see two new entrants (I'm gonna get some grief from the ladies for one of
them).
On the personal front I seem to be collecting Peterbilia just lately ... I saw
Matty last week and he gave me a pair of Petes trousers, a pair of socks and
a christmas present from Peter to Lala, he only stayed there one bloody night!
Ammy has already got a pair of his glasses. Maybe we can have a charity auction
or something ... Oh, and Pete needs a job if anyone needs a good Web-designer.
And that'll do for now cos I need an early night, I'm off on a two-day corporate
jolly to a rather nice Hilton down in Gloucestershire ... it's gonna be so dull,
and I'm gonna miss Ammy ... sigh.
24th May 2001
So here i am in Sheffield with Ammy... and i got artistic...
sudden urge for poetry (with Ammy's help) and we ended up with "And Yet".
I also jotted down the basics of another poem about 'Perseus' but it's not quite
ready for publication yet.
Saw Nick and Phil today ..... both still very pretty..... Phil reckons he might
have to work a bit harder next term coz the exams kinda surprised him .... errr
yeah ....
Nick reckons he might have to take maths next year coz he can't work out the
angles on a pool table to save his life.
Naturally I won every game .... but i'm meeting Matty tomorrow for some serious
pool so ..... see next news for results.
Stay tuned .... xxxx
22nd May 2001:
Not much news lately ... in fact that's the longest it's
been since I rediscovered serendipity!
So lemme see, what's new on the site? ... well, there's been
a lot of action in the problem section, mostly
me and Matty, although Ant is making a concerted effort .. and we have a new
contributor named Dec, apparently he's some depraved demon from the second level
of hell in temporary possession of Farmer Pete. We actually met him last weekend
during a wild couple of nights in Coventry, he came with us to 'the Campbell
Friday night and Rainbows on Saturday night (Rainbows is Coventrys only Gay
club!! <don't worry I'm not turning ... I was with Ammy naturally> and
Pete/Dec had never been there, so we took 'them'). We also met up with Ian and
Ken, down for the weekend from Manchester, and we completed the weekend by getting
locked into the 'Plough' on Sunday night with Ant.
The fact that Pete is currently possessed by Dec may explain the lack of a 'PeterFile'
in reply to Mattys ... it's certainly a better excuse than any Pete could come
up with!
Also new on the site are a couple of poems from Nick in 'peeps poems'
.. he actually sent me 3, but one was in french and I haven't
had it translated yet (sorry Nick). I also put on a new illusion and tidied
up the links section, I took off the link to the 4th Scouts on
my site and replaced it with a link to Sammys Scout Page ... I doubt if it will
be reciprocated, but ya never know, (Not much happening in Scouts at the moment
because of the 'foot and mouth epidemic', but no doubt there will be a camp
to report on soon).
Say ... did anybody get a copy of 'Chatterbox' magazine? 'Serendipity' got two
mentions this month, complete with the web-address... fame at last huh? (This
week 'chatterbox' .. next week 'Loaded')
And that'll do for this edition ... stay tuned!!
11th May 2001:
Not much to report this time ... just a tidy up of the Den
and one new morality tale.
And I just spent quite a while in the problem section ... reading and replying
... there are some interesting trends being played out in there. And who the
hell is the problem page management team? and will we ever see ant again? ...
spooky!
03rd May 2001:
Blimey ... it's all go on the site ain't it! The problem
pages seem to be undergoing something of a blitz, although last I looked it
was all down to 3 people ... (so get over there and join in the lively debate
- unless of course you're under the age of 18 ... in which case steer clear!!).
Matty bless him has sent me a new PeterFile (above) and Pete has promised me
a reply in the very near future ... I want it known however that I don't sanction
the competition (unless it's really humorous). Matty say's that Pete still has
the win for the Police Flag ... but what about the time that Pete and Ian lifted
an R2D2 ... that must count as being fairly unusual (it's a long story ... funny
... but long). Other stuff just in are some new weird pics, one of which is
decidedly scary!
For all those that were asking ... yes there is a way out beyond the 'archway
of doom', in fact there are a couple of routes through and me and Ammy checked
that they worked the other night ... so persevere adventurers.
For those that are easily confused ... the adventure game does NOT end in the
tent as a dream (it was Nick everybody!!)
And talking of Nick ... he also got Laura as the lesbian in 'Big Brother', I
think that's pretty much everybody! (Once okay ... twice coincidence ... three
times just maybe ... 17 times, errr yeah). Phil ... this is why she always gets
you drunk first ....
Oh, and while we're at it ... everyone should try the new 'Phil diet' lose half
a stone in a single night at Oxford ... hahahaha (and deposit it all over Lauras
floor).
26th April 2001:
Actually I'm lying .. it's really the 25th today, but then
I won't be uploading this until tomorrow so no one will ever know! Except that
I've mentioned it now ... damn ... delete!
Hello everybody ... this update is a joint effort. Me and Ammy have been a bit
busy ... we did some more story for the adventure game, added a new illusion
... some new pics in the weird section and a thing about brains in the humour
section (ta for that Sarah). We might do a bit more yet, but if we do it will
be more of the adventure ... so this news item will still be true. Alternatively
we might take a break and resume our ongoing chess tournament, I'm teaching
Am to play ... we're still on the 'No they're not called bloody horsies/prawns/castles'
... actually she's getting significantly better with every game and it's kinda
worrying.
And that's about it for this entry, keep the content coming and don't forget
to register your problem with the team.
M&A .. XXX
19th April 2001:
This is getting to be a daily occurrence! 8 months of nothing
and then dramatic activity nearly every day.
All that's really changes with this update is the religi-babble above from Pete
and a new illusion in the weird section. More soon!
18th April 2001:
You can see how keen I am at present by the number and regularity
of the site updates! Impressive huh?
Today I had help .. Me and Ammy decided we would have a play with the adventure
in the games section ... the only problem was that I didn't know where all the
links went .. so we had to play the thing all the way through and map it as
we went .. took hours, but we had a laff! I had forgotten just how damned brilliant
I was ... I'm so funny sometimes I scare myself! Anyway, we saved some time
because Ammy types a lot faster than I do and she only normally has to have
one attempt at spelling anything (she's so clever). Say, Peter ... you may notice
that I have removed the photo of you and Matty that was linked from above ...
No, I haven't got rid of it .. it's just been moved to a new home ... see if
you can find it! And I think that'll do for now ... I'll upload all the files
tomorrow at 'work' ... but now we have to go and check on Macro and the gang
in 'IceWind Dale' ... more soon!
16th April 2001:
A few minor changes and additions .. I have added 2 new stories in the moral section of the Den (I love those soppy romantic stories, they always make me cry!) and I have updated and added to the Links page. I did write a new poem last night, but it needs a tidy up before I post it on the site .. I'll probably make a few more modifications before I upload the new pages, but now I have to watch Coventry City win 1-0 on 'match of the day'!
15th April 2001:
Hello again .. and happy Easter. Although I must confess that I don't really
do Easter, I have no problems with the religious significance of this holiday
it's the extreme commercial 'I want' culture that surrounds it all that leaves
me cold. (And maybe the fact that chocolate doesn't really bother me too much).
Anyways .. all the new 'flash' menus are from Pete <cheers mate> along
with some of the graphics <content next Pete please ... >. I've changed
round the games section, deleted stuff that either didn't work or didn't interest
me anymore and added the 'Big Brother game ... I will add some more to this
section soon, and I definitely want to finish up the 'adventure game' (need
some help with that Am ... and plot suggestions from anybody). I've got rid
of the frames in the jokes section, added a few more pages (I particularly liked
the Council Housing reports and the Employee Evaluations) and also a few new
pages of cartoons. There are also some new pics in the weird section along with
a new optical illusion. And now I'm gonna shoot off and start uploading the
site whilst I go back to 'IceWind Dale' and kill some more monsters, more updates
soon .........
8th April 2001:
Where's he been then? Why no changes? What's going on?
Well ... some major life-changes for a start! The last update prior to this
one was in September last year, a couple of days before I got kicked out of
my house (those that need to know already know ... and ya know I can't stomach
gossips). So I lost access to my computer, (not to mention food and shelter
)
Now obviously this is gonna infringe on any regular site-updating (There's no
internet connection to the average park bench, and I never did like using computers
in the rain). So that strikes me as a reasonable excuse for the start, my second
excuse lives in Yarmouth and has a fondness for hamsters and vegetables (that's
not a menu item!), Pete has been promising to visit and bring along various
software goodies since November ... Pete, my xmas present and a cool CD all
arrived last weekend, 4 months late! (Excellent weekend though matey ... well
I think it was ... actually, what did we do?). Anyway, Pete is now a huge expert
in the field of Web-design and has promised me a few exquisite graphic designs,
some flash and fireworks gizmos and even some content (including an insight
into his latest religion) ... we shall see ...
I can't leave this news without mentioning that I have finally found my soul-mate,
her name is Anne-Marie, and I love her so very very much. Hopefully she will
have a bit of input into the site also (she has actually contributed in the
past ... )
I forgot to mention what's new with this update .. I did put up all my latest
poems plus any that have been sent to me lately, but other than that it's mainly
a tidy-up, fix a few faults, drop off a bit of outdated content, and begin preparations
for the impending make-over. For those who are still reading ... it would be
nice to receive some new material ... poetry, humour, pics, illusions, or maybe
some new problems for the 'problem pages' ... tara a bit!
